Company Background

Our 'no problems' attitude and 'no limits' service capability has been the driving force behind the growth of our business.

Rod and Lisa Cameron have owned and operated Northwest Engineering (NWE) for the last four years. Before buying the business in 2007, Rod (a qualified electrician) spent 10 years operating Cameron Electrical, which provided electrical services to the hospitality industry.
After a long time in the game, Rod began looking for a new challenge; his hospitality experience motivated him to participate in the McDonalds franchisee training programme but after 12 months he decided it was not meant to be. Rod was soon on the hunt for another opportunity. His wife Lisa had begun working at Northwest which was listed on the market and under offer at the time.

Over the next few months, Lisa saw Northwest Engineering from the inside out and when the existing offer fell through, Rod and Lisa soon found themselves the proud new owners of an engineering company. After taking over the company in August 2007, 12 months were spent working with the people, the processes, the image and the working environment. In August 2008, the company faced a major challenge when the workshop foreman was in a serious car accident and was left unable to remain in his role.
Over the last 18 months between the ‘knowledge challenges’ and the recession, NWE has gone through some really positive changes; new people, new buildings and a more customer-focused culture. Today New occupies a more modern, smaller workshop under the skilful watch of a workshop manager.

While NWE continues to offer the same services the business has offered for the past 20 years, those of you who have worked with NWE in the past will be sure to notice our new lease on life.

Our workshop is located at 10 Langstone Lane, Northcote in Christchurch, and has plenty of client parking.  It is conveniently located next to Powerserve Electrical (our sibling company).
